“All Along the Watchtower” - Jimi Hendrix

Yeah yeah, I know Bob Dylan wrote and first recorded the thing. But Jimi made it his own, damnit. And it’s about time he got on the list here.

It’s one of those songs that run through my head when it’s a particularly crappy day at work. One of many, actually, heh.

“Knights in White Satin” - The Dickies

This is another of the “love songs” from my listening ear. Wife & I will play duelling YouTubes every now and again. The Rules: she plays a deep, meaningful, caring song for me, and I do the same for her.

Well, that’s the idea, anyway. You may’ve guessed after looking over my song list thus far that, well, I don’t have the same reserves of mushy stuff in my library as, say, any other normal human being.

So songs like this one get played on my turns. And y’know, we dig it just the same.

“Everywhere I Go” - The Call

This is just a nice song. Even with the Christian leanings, it’s a much better love song than, say, REM’s “The One I Love”, heh. So that’s something.

And it’s ’80s-ish, so Max might even approve.

“Gangsters” - Specials

Groovy. That’s all I got for this one, just plain groovy.

But then, sometimes that’s all you need.

Afterthought… the singer more than a little resembles Mico Saudad, of Songfight reknown. Hmmm, maybe I’m just hitting the crack-pipe too much lately.

“Do You Believe In The Westworld?” - Theatre of Hate

Yes, some of you readers (which is what, two people? Heh) might realize that I’m pulling this pseudo-theme from tracks that are all on the 3-disc compilation, “Politics of Punk”. So much for my street cred…

This one’s got the western guitar, which is always cool, and has some little connection to the movie Westworld (duh) which is way up there on my list of favorites.

Richard Benjamin is a god among actors. And Theatre of Hate ain’t bad either.

“Fiasco” - Chron Gen

Another in the list of political punk songs that I find inescapably fukkengroovy. There’s a song I’d like to cover, if only to get that tasty groove deeper under my skin.

Madness’ “Blue Skinned Beast” almost makes the list, but there’s just so much British nasal one can take in a pseudo-week’s thematicide.

“Reds Strike the Blues” - Redskins

Hey, I like political music. Sue me, heh. Sound levels on this YouTube are pretty low, maybe I’ll link to a studio version eventually (since I’ll be doing that for tomorrow’s SOTD for a different song anyway) as well.

This would’ve been good music to have had for the 1,100 miles of driving I did, touring this past weekend.
